All About Bik-Boks
We have a book titled "The Listening Walk" by Paul Showers. It is an old, original printing from the 60s; Aunt Kim bought it at a library sale for about fifty cents. It is Beanie's favorite book of late, replacing "Inside, Outside, Upside Down," at least temporarily. Anyway, in the book, a little boy and his dad go for a walk and listen to all the sounds around the neighborhood. One sound is that of a lady's shoes as she walks, then runs, to the bus stop. She is wearing high heels. The sound that they make is "bik-bok."
It took the Bean all of about three seconds to realize that I have a closet full of bik-boks, and that if she asks nicely, she, too, can make that sound! All summer long, she has been walking around the house in heels, repeating "bik-bok" over and over with her feet and in her lovely sing-song voice. I was pretty incredulous last week, though, when I heard the sound of bik-boks and realized that Pook and Bean were standing next to me. Could it be? It had to! Jooney has discovered bik-boks!! Now he tromps around behind his sister, hands usually full of legos and food, bik-boks on his feet.
We had a great weekend. On Saturday we took the kids to the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market for the Sustainable Sustain-a-ball. It was a lot of fun! They got to play in a wading pool, eat snow cones, listen to live music, and sample chipotle brownies (very yummy!). We got to check out all the food and sustainable product vendors. In fact, an event rep snapped a picture of Pook and Bean in the Fuzzie Bunz tent while I was looking over the diaper selection. Hopefully it will end up on their website.
