August Milestones

Happy 21st Birthday Aunt Kim!!

August has been a tough month for us, but things are looking up as we get ready to welcome autumn. Although sandal weather can last year-round in Austin, Pook and Bean celebrated the advent of the equinox by dancing around in their new sparkly red "Dorothy" shoes yesterday. Luckily, Daddy noted, these shoes are available up to size 12, so we can "enjoy" them for years to come.

Jooney has really started talking and it seems like he adds a new word every day. Some of his latest additions are just hilarious. He has learned how to ask for food: "Ma-ma! Unhh nummy nummy!" This is accompanied by him smacking and licking his lips. He is at the stage where he takes time out to poop, contorting his fat little face while holding on to an end table or a chair. He will come find one of us and say, "Puh, puh," and then pat his diaper. We've also realized that he knows all of the dogs and his sisters by name, though the only name he says so far is Oliver ("Oh-ber!"). I'm a little surprised that he doesn't immediately follow "Oliver" with "no!"

Actual conversation at Chase Bank last week:

Banker: "It's not letting me do this. Dagnabbit!"
Pook (wide-eyed): "We don't say that word!"
Mommy: "But what can we say?"
Bean (gleefully): "Dammit!!"
